A mentally challenged Saint Lucian man who was reported missing from his home for about a month, is back at his Bois Patat, Castries home.
Relatives said that a public spirited citizen took Zacchaeus Lima, also known as ‘Sunman’ to the Choiseul police station Saturday afternoon.
Lima had been seen wandering about in the community.
Ever since St Lucia Times published his story on March 10, 2019, persons began posting reports in the comments section indicating that he had been sighted in Soufriere and Choiseul.
One person even posted a telephone contact number for the family to call for information about the missing man’s whereabouts, while others called the family directly.
Lima’s family told St Lucia Times that they were very grateful for all the support and help they received in locating him.
A family member said that a woman was providing Lima with food and clothing, but it was not immediately clear where he had been staying during the time he was away from home.
The same Good Samaritan is reported to have called the police and directed them to where Lima could be found.
According to the family member, after the missing man was taken to the Choiseul police station the law enforcement officers at the family’s request, transported him to the Vieux Fort police station where relatives picked him up about 3.30 p.m.
“He is fine – he just got small. He lost some weight,” the family member told St Lucia Times.
It was disclosed that because Lima does not actually speak, he could not explain what had occurred.
“When he reached up the hill to go at his home he was so happy that he started running ,” the family member recalled.
It was not the first time that Lima was reported missing from home, but the latest disappearance was the longest period of absence.
