The victim of Wednesday night’s fatal shooting at Monchy was killed on the eve of the burial of his sister, who was gunned down in July.
Police say Sylvester Louis, 56, died after being shot multiple times at Monchy, Gros Islet, about 9.30 PM.
According to law enforcement officials, Louis had arrived home and disembarked from his vehicle when he was shot.
His sister, Celia Louis, known as ‘Miss Daphne’, was fatally shot on Monday July 20, 2020 while on her way to her Monchy, Gros Islet home.
Gregory ‘Get Through’ Thomas, who told St Lucia Times he knew Sylvester Louis ‘from time immemorial’, explained that the deceased was preparing to attend the sister’s funeral at the Gros Islet Catholic Church on Thursday.
“The man had everything organised to bury his sister today,” Thomas disclosed.
Thomas explained that he himself had planned to leave work early to attend the sister’s funeral.
He described his deceased friend, Sylvester Louis, as having been a very nice person.
He was at a loss to determine why anyone would have wanted to kill him.
“I don’t know – I don’t know,” Thomas said in bewilderment.
