Twenty-one more Saint Lucians are now prepared to commence work in Canada, Prime Minister Allen Chastanet has announced.
Chastanet made the announcement on his official Facebook page Wednesday.
He explained that the Department of Labour hosted an orientation exercise for the twenty-one Saint Lucians, who will soon depart the island for employment under the Canadian seasonal Agricultural Workers Programme.
According to Chastanet, the development is the result of ‘our negotiations with farm owners in Canada.’
The PMĀ noted that twenty workers, all of whom are new to the programme, will be employed by Algoma Orchard Corporation in Ontario.
One Saint Lucian has been hired to work with Holms Potato.
They will be employed in Canada for three months.
‘We wish them the very best on this journey,’ Chastanet wrote.
