Mother Of Abandoned Baby Comes Forward

Health and Wellness Minister Mary Isaac has announced that the mother of an abandoned newborn has come forward to the authorities.

“The mother came forward – the real mother, we believe, came forward and she is getting the necessary attention,” Isaac told reporters Thursday.

Asked whether it had been confirmed that it was the real mother, Isaac’s response was:

“Well, I don’t know what you’re talking about. I have not seen the mother and I don’t know who the mother is, but the hospital informed me that we made a plea and then the mother came forward.”

According to Isaac, the baby is fine and has been placed in foster care.

The child was found abandoned at Morne Du Don earlier this month.

The newborn still had the umbilical cord attached.

According to one Morne du Don resident, someone heard the child crying, went to investigate and discovered the infant in a bag.

A heart-wrenching video of the discovery was posted on social media.

Another video, apparently recorded some time after the discovery, showed the child wrapped in a blanket atop a vehicle as young men from the community took charge of the situation.

An ambulance later took the child to hospital.

  7. “Well, I don’t know what you’re talking about. I have not seen the mother and I don’t know who the mother is, but the hospital informed me that we made a plea and then the mother came forward.” – What an asinine response. Sometimes I wonder with her …

  8. Please don’t play politics with this poor soul. Every one here seem to have an
opinion yet none of us know the full story, the whys and why not of the reason
behind the story. What happened here is very tragic, to discard of a new born
in this manner calls for many deep searching questions. Above all I must say
‘no condemnation’ mercy, forgiveness and love must be paramount in our
    dealing in this matter. I always say, ‘what would Jesus say if asked about this’;
but apart from the Lord himself, I personally say to you my Lucian friends,
time times that we are living in right now, is not a time to have revenge in your
your heart – substitute that for love – because we all will be asked at that time
‘when your brother ‘sister’ needed help, what did you do?’
My God is a God of mercy and Love, that is why he paid the ultimate price that
we all may not have to account for our failings. The authorities have placed the
baby in forster care, that is enough for me: Now let the authority do their work.
