Moto X Club Rider Succumbs After Race Injury

The Saint Lucia Moto X Club is in mourning following the death Monday of one of its long-standing members.

According to club officials, Oswald Simon was participating in the organisation’s season opener on Sunday afternoon  at the Cul de Sac track when he was injured .

A member of the club told St Lucia Times that Simon, a Special Reserve Police Officer, flew off his Honda CRF 450 and was thrown several feet into the air before landing on the ground.

He was taken to hospital but succumbed Monday afternoon, it was reported.

Moto X Club officials described the death  of Simon, whom they said was the top finisher in Class ‘A’ last year,  as a tragic loss  and extended condolences to his bereaved relatives.

On its official Facebook page, the Moto X Club had  mentioned that another rider, identified as Jah Mallen Alcindor, had also been injured on the track and had been hospitalised.

There was no immediate word on Alcindor’s condition.
