A motorcyclist collided with an elderly man Thursday in a road accident that caused injuries to both.
A caller alerted the Vieux Fort fire station about 10.00 a.m to the incident.
Fire Service spokesman, Damian Jn Baptiste disclosed that the collision occurred along the Vieux Fort-Laborie Highway, near the traffic lights.
Responding officers found that a motor cycle had collided with a pedestrian.
“Patient assessment revealed that the pedestrian, an elderly male, sustained a laceration to his upper lip and a dislodged tooth,” Jn Baptiste said.
He disclosed that emergency responders treated the patient.
The SLFS spokesman said they later transported the elderly man to St. Jude Hospital in stable condition.
He said emergency personnel also assessed the motorcyclist who had abrasions to his elbow and knee.
The SLFS spokesman said the motorcyclist also complained of pain to his shoulder.
“He opted to be transported to the hospital by private means,”” Jn Baptiste stated.
