A motorist was rushed to hospital Tuesday night after a vehicle veered off the La Toc road and down a precipice.
Saint Lucia Fire Service spokeswoman, Stacy Joseph, says officers at Fire Service Headquarters responded after receiving a distress call at approximately 10:15 p.m.
According to Joseph, at the scene emergency personnel found the vehicle resting on its roof.
She said the sole occupant, a male individual appearing unconscious, was lying on his back with his legs elevated.
“A rapid assessment revealed that the individual had a faint pulse. Using a basket stretcher and rescue lines, the patient was carried to the ambulance,” Joseph told St Lucia Times.
He explained that emergency medical care was administered and the patient was provided rapid transportation to the OKEU Hospital.
“He remained in a critical condition en-route and on arrival was left in the care of a medical practitioner,” the fire service spokeswoman said.
