The National Emergency Management Organisation (NEMO) has advised persons living in flood prone areas of Saint Lucia to be vigilant, as a tropical wave affects the Island.
Earlier on Sunday showers lasted for a few hours in the South of the Island and there was some flooding, NEMO observed in a release.
According to the release, it is expected that periods of moderate to heavy showers with isolated thunderstorms will continue over the Island into Monday.
NEMO also noted that brisk winds and above normal seas are expected.
The organisation is currently in the process of determining to what extent the rainfall has impacted various communities.
On Friday, Prime Minister Allen Chastanet, noting that the Saint Lucia Met Office had alerted the public about potentially heavy rains, urged citizens to be prepared and remain vigilant.
In a message on his official Facebook Page, Chastanet made specific reference to persons living in areas that are prone to flooding and land slippage.
