New Year Babies Receive Hampers

The mothers of two babies who were born on New Year’s Day were presented with hampers containing baby supplies.

The baby girls, Belle Faucher and Courtney Samuel, were the first to be delivered at Victoria and St Jude Hospitals respectively.

The donation of the hampers was the brainchild of the eldest of the Peter sisters of Castries, Agnes Peter-Popo, who resides in the United States Virgin Islands.

Born into a family of seven girls and one boy, Mrs. Popo said it was a pleasure  to deliver the hampers to the baby girls, having been surrounded by mostly girls for most of her younger days growing up in Saint Lucia.

A mother of two adult sons and four grandsons, she said she was very fond of children in particular, and wanted to usher in the New Year by reaching out to the two families.

“I have been residing in the USVI for over thirty years and would usually return to visit my family back in Saint Lucia.   As a community person at heart, it is not the first time that I been associated with such benevolent gestures, although this latest one is the first of its kind for me,” she was quoted in a press as saying.

“It just a pleasure just looking at them and thinking of the bright future ahead for our kids, if somebody, somewhere, just took the time to show some love,” she added.

Mrs. Popo said her family intends to make the donation an annual gesture.
