Odsan Resident Collapses, Dies After Attending Funeral

A resident of Odsan collapsed and died Sunday evening after returning from a funeral earlier in Castries, persons from the community say.

The deceased was identified as ‘Ritchie’, said to be in his seventies.

According to information obtained by St Lucia Times, he had earlier attended a funeral  service at the Castries Seventh Day Adventist church for a neighbour who had passed away.

‘Ritchie’, according to one Odsan resident, later went to the home in the community where a ‘wake’ was being kept for the deceased neighbour.

But the resident said on his way back home he collapsed in the presence of his wife and others and was later pronounced dead, resulting in a fresh set of mourning.

“He fell backwards,” the resident told St Lucia Times.

The incident occurred  near the Odsan Community centre, it was reported.

It was not immediately clear whether ‘Ritchie’ had any preexisting medical condition.
