A woman believed to be in her fifties has died following a vehicle accident at Escap, Micoud, on Monday afternoon, the Saint Lucia Fire Service (SLFS) says.
SLFS Communications Officer, Stacy Joseph disclosed that emergency personnel from the Micoud and Vieux Fort Fire Stations responded at approximately 5:35 p.m.
Joseph said the responders found two individuals lying on the road side and another being assisted out of a wrecked vehicle by bystanders.
“A rapid assessment of the three patients revealed that one female was unresponsive, a young child sustained fractures and lacerations on his body and another female, identified as the driver complained of pain to her leg,” she explained.
According to Joseph the unresponsive patient, who appeared to be in her fifties, was immobilised on a spine board and CPR was initiated.
“She was provided rapid emergency transportation to the St. Jude hospital, where she was later pronounced dead. The other patients’ wounds were bandaged and fractures splinted. They were both immobilized and transported, in a stable condition, to the St. Jude Hospital for further medical care,” Joseph stated.
