Organisers of the recent Soufriere telethon have reported receiving more pledges of cash from the public.
Soufriere Leve Ede held the event on Sunday, February 14, 2021.
The objective of the second such fundraising event by the organisation was to raise money for the benefit of Soufriere’s unemployed young men and fathers.
According to Soufriere Leve Ede, it received pledges of just under $28,000.00 on the day of the Telethon.
But to date, the pledges have grown to $35,000.00.
And the Telethon organisers have collected $20,800.00.
“We take the opportunity to thank all those who pledged and have made their contribution,” they said in a statement.
And the organisers called on those who pledged and have not made good on their pledge to do so.
In addition, Soufriere Leve Ede has urged on Saint Lucians who have not pledged to consider doing so.
It said both the GOFUNDME account and the Bank of St. Lucia account 104530522 are still open.
“Your contribution will go a long way in assisting unemployed young men and fathers and their children. You would be showing them that you care and that they are not alone,” Soufriere Leve Ede stated.
The organisation thanked the MBC management and staff and all the artists who gave of their time and talent free of charge for ‘this worthy cause’.
