Parts of Dennery were under water Tuesday as a result of overnight rain that continued into the wee hours of the morning.
Both the northern and southern parts of the village were affected.
According to reports from the community, the affected places included the Trou A L ’Eau river in the North and St Peter’s lane into Victoria Street, dubbed the epicenter of flooding in the village.
Although several homes were impacted, there were no evacuations, the Chairperson of the Dennery South Disaster Preparedness Committee, Ausbert Regis, told St Lucia Times.
Regis reported about 7:40 am the rain had ceased. He told St Lucia Times that residents expected the flood waters to go down.
However Regis explained that there are concerns that given the current forecast, more rain is expected.
“There is some work being done on the Dennery playing field but the drainage works accompanying this have not been done – that is another area of concern,” he observed.
