Phillips urges community mobilization vs crime

Former Police Commissioner, Cuthbert Phillips, has called for the mobilization of communities across Saint Lucia in the battle against crime.

“If we want to fight crime in Saint Lucia the whole community – everybody must be involved,” Phillips said last night during Newsmaker Live which is aired on DBS Television.

He declared that even children must become involved.

Phillips explained that one of Israel’s successes in terms of law and order was that every single Israeli is an Intelligence Officer.

“The old lady on the street, the guys – everybody because it is a matter of their survival so everybody is involved,” the former Police Commissioner told Newsmaker Live host, Timothy Poleon.

Phillips explained that he had visited Israel where the community mobilization is evident.

“Unless we get involved and unless we have the thing where we say ‘love your neighbour’; if we haven’t got that we will never solve the crime situation in Saint Lucia, he declared.
