Officers at the Soufriere fire station responded Thursday at 7:41 pm to a vehicle fire at Bois Den, Soufriere, and found the four-door vehicle fully engulfed in flames.
The firefighters put out the fire, but the flames destroyed the vehicle.
Saint Lucia Fire Service (SLFS) spokeswoman Annia Mitchel says the vehicle owner reported that the pickup experienced mechanical problems before the fire.
“The incident posed no threat to nearby structures and no one was reported injured,” Mitchel explained.

@ Poule Foo :- very, very interesting my friend; you have enlighten me of something which, had you not said it, I would never know. The Bay Leaf was used for more than one purpose. Bay Rum was extracted from it. It was not that for consumption, but the older folks like my Grand Mother, made mixtures with a little Coconut Oil, Soft Candle(chandel mol) Nut Meg etc and rubbed on my Chest & Back to kick out the cough, and off we go again to the ‘Gardens’ the George V Park to kick a Ball. I would be back again Coughing, then Chest, Back & Legs; I tell the Stories to my Grand Children and they laugh. (Today its Cough medicine or Vaccination or back to Bush Medication)”We shall not all die, but we shall all be changed, in the twinkling of the eye, at the Last Trumpet blast of the Lord) are we eady?
There were No Damages so thanks be to God !
Is it Bois d’inde or Bois Den? The former is French for a particular spice (Pimenta racemosa). Sometimes called Bay Tree, Bay Leaf among others. There are several places in the Caribbean named Bois d’inde because huge concentrations were found at those locations. I have a suspicion that the area is called Bois d’inde.
