Prime Minister, Philip J. Pierre Wednesday led a team comprising members of cabinet and other officials on a visit to the St Jude Hospital redevelopment project.
On his official Facebook page, Pierre noted that a technical team has been commissioned to assess how best to expedite efforts to make the health care facility operational.
“Saint Lucians deserve better. Saint Lucians deserve quality healthcare. It has been too long,” the Prime Minister asserted, while promising that a comprehensive update will be shared with the public.
In his throne speech to on the occasion of the 1st Session of the Twelfth Parliament of Saint Lucia on Tuesday, August 17, 2021, Errol Charles, the Deputy to the Governor General, referred to St Jude Hospital as a ‘vexing issue’, declaring that residents of the South deserve better.
“Too much time and money have been wasted on this project. I wish to reemphasise my government’s commitment to end the wastage and the pain and distress of the people of the South, by having St Jude Hospital completed in the shortest possible time,” Charles told the house.
