Opposition leader Philip J. Pierre Wednesday morning visited the Bocage Combined School to make a contribution of health, sanitary and stationery items.
Writing on his party’s official Facebook page, the Castries East MP observed that the gesture was to ensure ‘our children have a safe and conducive learning environment and our teachers can be comfortable while executing their duties’.
The Saint Lucia Labour Party (SLP) leader noted that Saint Lucia reopened schools this week and started a new academic year, with some institutions raising concern about the adequacy of health and sanitary preparation.
‘Our country, like many others are facing the global COVID-19 pandemic and just this morning a new case was announced by our health authorities. The reality is, many are finding difficulties, especially our children, adapting to the new normal but we as leaders must step up to the plate and fill the void,” Pierre asserted.
