Opposition leader Philip J. Pierre has issued a call on the occasion Thursday of International Men’s Day, for men in the society to be counted.
“Let us be counted men, our country needs us,” Pierre declared in a post on the official Facebook page of the Saint Lucia Labour Party (SLP).
“Today, especially on International Men’s Day, I congratulate the men who provide leadership and love to their families and community,” the SLP leader wrote.
“It is usually in the small things that we uncover profound teachings and acts of kindness. The counsel of elders, the innocence of our youth all contribute to building a stronger society,” he observed.
International Men’s Day (IMD) is observed annually on November 19.
The objectives include celebrating the achievements of men and promoting humanitarian values in males.
