Saint Lucia’s opposition leader, Philip J. Pierre, has reiterated calls for an end to what he described as the unjust US economic embargo against Cuba.

Pierre,  Laborie MP and former Foreign Minister, Alva Baptiste, SLP Senator Lisa Jawahir and Communications Officer Maundy Lewis were on Tuesday hosted by the Ambassador of the Republic of Cuba to Saint Lucia, H. E Alejandro Simancas Marín and his wife Lourdes Aguilera.

According to a post of the SLP’s official Facebook page,  Pierre took the opportunity to extend his gratitude to the Government and people of Cuba for assisting Saint Lucia in the area of health over the years but particularly at this time with nurses and doctors to combat the COVID-19 pandemic.

“Complimenting them for their acclaimed pioneering work in medicine, the Political Leader wished them success with their COVID 19 vaccine trials,” the Facebook post stated.
