Prime Minister Philip J. Pierre paid tribute to this country’s teachers as Saint Lucia began a phased return to the physical classroom on Monday.
“Our nation owes a debt of gratitude to our teachers. There is no ideal situation,” he noted while observing that both online and face-to-face learning have their fair share of challenges.
“We are comforted knowing that you, our teachers, are giving of your best. Thank you for showing up today. I salute you,” Pierre wrote Monday on his official Facebook page.
The Castries East MP observed that many teachers and students would have returned to the physical classroom.
“While I am aware that the learning environment has transformed seemingly overnight and as a result, you have sacrificed and readjusted to meet the needs of our new reality, I commend your resolve, tenacity, and your ability to adapt,” he stated.
“I want you to know that your Government cares for you. We will listen to you and work with you to face the challenges of onsite and virtual learning. Your Government is committed to addressing your concerns and ensuring that relevant education is delivered in the best possible manner from our teachers to our children. Have a blessed and productive week,” Pierre said.
