“I think I like people,” was his response when asked why Philip J. Pierre for Prime Minister.

“I care for people,” the Castries East MP said.

“I think I am in politics because I want to improve people’s lives – not my life.”

According to the SLP leader, he has been comfortable from his birth, although not being rich.

He disclosed that he did not come from parents who had money.

“But I was comfortable,” Pierre explained.

Pierre said he wants to see the lives of people improve.

“I don’t want to do it for myself,” he explained.

“This is why I am not up front. This is why some people tell you I don’t have the show – I can’t represent Saint Lucia internationally.”

However the opposition leader said he has represented this country internationally.

He recalled having spoken at the United Nations, although not the General Assembly.

Pierre also observed that he served as Tourism Minister, Minister for Financial Services, and Minister for Investment.

According to the SLP leader, he has spoken to some of the big investors in the world.

“But basically, I want to be Prime Minister so that I can improve people’s lives, because I care for them – I want everybody to have a chance to survive, but not only to survive, but to have a better quality of life, not for me, but for them,” he stated.

“I think I should be Prime Minister to allow me to work with a team of dedicated men and women, which I think I have, to improve the lives of Saint Lucians,” Pierre declared.
