Opposition leader Philip J. Pierre has promised that a Saint Lucia Labour Party (SLP) administration will end facility fees for students.

“We will also ensure that because of education, we are going to work with CXC to make sure that Saint Lucian students, when they’re doing English and Maths in form five will not pay the CXC fees,” Pierre asserted.

“The government will meet the cost of CXC fees for them in the first instance,” he explained.

Pierre made the comments during an appearance this week on Radio 100 Helen FM.

In addition, he disclosed that in his party’s proposed Youth Economy, the SLP will facilitate the creativity in the youth.

“Not election gimmicks,” Pierre declared.

He noted that because elections are coming, young people are getting employment in all kinds of ways.

But Pierre warned that it will be short lived.

“Short lived projects for elections,” he asserted.
