Prime Minister Philip J. Pierre has called on Saint Lucians to be safe and responsible amid Carnival celebrations.

” Be responsible. Be safe. Have fun,” Pierre asserted.

In a Facebook post, he explained that, as is customary, he would be viewing and enjoying the Parade of the Bands from the sidelines.

“After a two-year hiatus and months of planning, today, thousands of carnival revelers will play their mas. Please have a safe and enjoyable masquerade,” Pierre wrote.

The Castries East MP also expressed gratitude to carnival band owners, entertainers, promoters, stakeholders, and essential services personnel, for contributing to the industry’s growth.

“We will continue to support you,” Pierre declared.

  1. Pierre you should be ashamed of yourself promoting this nonesense. Our women almost naked in the streets with no respect for themselves and then on other days pretend to have pride. This is immoral and just wrong. Pierre you need to wake up, you always sound like you are controlled by the masses, we are in a crisis with covid 19 and crime. This island need prayers and God.

  2. These are all adults who made a decision on their own to congregate in spite of everything which is going on in this climate. No one was forced against their will — therefore ????????

    • @Jay. The same way the government enforces restrictions in areas like traveling to Saint Lucia and limited congregation in churches, they can prevent mass gatherings such as this carnival one. Don’t try to eliminate the governments responsibility there

      • @ rimoneste you are so on point . The extraordinary lust for wealth by those in high office with vested interest outweighs the need for caution and circumspection with regard to peoples health and lives.

  3. In the event of a national rise COVID-19 cases (which is very likely), these hilarious SLP jokers are to be blamed for allowing and economically supporting this to be super spreader event.
We also kindly urge this oppressive SLP to be cooperative and step down to save Saint Lucia for the economic collapse they are leading the country into.
