Saint Lucia Labour Party (SLP) leader, Philip J. Pierre has urged labour supporters to always be prepared as Saint Lucia awaits a date for elections, warning that the ruling United Workers Party (UWP) will fight with all they have.

“And they will not fight as we fight. They’re going to fight nasty – they’re going to use everything at their disposal, including state power,” Pierre stated.

He was addressing a group of party supporters Tuesday at the Anse La Raye campaign office.

“What we have is togetherness, what we have is love and what we have is a vision and a mission to make the people of Saint Lucia better and in that case, the people of Anse La Raye better,” the Castries East MP asserted.

“We have a commitment to the people – that’s the difference between us and them,” Pierre declared.

Although a date for general elections is yet to be announced, he explained that the furthest that Prime Minister Allen Chastanet can reach is October 12.

“And he must call it in September, so elections must be called in September,” Pierre told party supporters.

“So we don’t have a lot of time,” he stated.
