Pinehill and RCI brings Christmas Cheer to Students

Pinehill, in collaboration with Radio Caribbean International (RCI) brought the curtains down on another successful Christmas Essay Competition last week with the hosting of a Christmas Party for the winning student and her school.

According to Krystal Francois, Brand Manager for Pinehill at Peter & Company Distribution (PCD),  it was a privilege to partner with RCI for the initiative, which many schools throughout the island look forward to each year.

“This year’s essay topic was “If I were Santa, I would…” and the competition, which ran from November 1st to December 1st, , was open to all grade 3 – 6 students, island wide,” Francois explained.   “The essays were judged on originality, content, mechanics and word usage,” she added.

Juanita Bretney of RCI says that the Christmas Essay Competition was developed by the radio station some nine years ago in an effort to encourage and reward literacy and expression in children and that it was a pleasure to have a company like PCD, through Pinehill, on board.

The eventual winner of the competition was Jeannique William, a Grade 5 student of the Ave Maria Girls Primary School in Castries. She expressed delight that she had won, as well as the fact that all the other Grade 5 students were able to enjoy the Pinehill Christmas Party with her.

The Christmas Party was held on Thursday December 08th on the school compound, where Pinehill presented the winning student with a Samsung Galaxy Tablet. The school was also presented with a Computer and Printer, all compliments Pinehill. The students were entertained with music amidst a festive and decorative atmosphere as they enjoyed Pinehill juices and other goodies compliments Peter & Company Distribution.

Last week Pinehill also rewarded The 1st runner up Chris Anne Moonie of the Pierrot Combined School, the 2nd runner up, Courtney Paul of the Dame Pearlette Louisy Primary School and 3rd runner up, Chrizan Duncan of the Gordon & Walcott Memorial School.

Pinehill and RCI wish to thank all students who participated in the Christmas Essay Competition and celebrates with the top four winners and their schools.

“We wish to again congratulate our top prize winner Jeannique William and the principal, teachers and students of the Ave Maria Girls Primary School and thank them for affording us the opportunity to spend a joyous and fun-filled day with them. From all of us at Pinehill we wish them an enjoyable Christmas and a bright and prosperous New Year,” Krystal Francois expressed.
