Prime Minister Allen Chastanet says a major component of the COVID-19 battle is the efficiency of this country’s testing strategy.
And he indicated that Saint Lucia continues to work towards that goal.
Chastanet visited the laboratory at the OKEU Hospital on Sunday.
The PM said the visit was to get a better understanding of the processing of tests.
He also explained that he wanted to determine the hurdles which the lab may be experiencing.
“Having witnessed the process first hand I am confident that we have identified the challenges and the respective solutions moving forward,” Chastanet stated.
He made the comments on his official Facebook page on Sunday.
Saint Lucia established 5 Respiratory clinics around the island since the COVID-19 pandemic started.
The PM disclosed that the clinics have tested 22,832 persons so far.
Chastanet also visited staff at the La Clery Respiratory Clinic and the Clinic at the Vigie Sports Complex.
He made the visits on Monday afternoon.
The PM said visits were to continue expressing his gratitude to the Front-liners.
At the same time the visits gave them an opportunity to share their experiences directly with him, Chastanet explained.
“They are real life superheroes!” The PM declared.
“Let’s continue doing our part to help make their job safer and easier,” he stated.
