Prime Minister Allen Chastanet has lauded the Independence Committee and all who facilitated and took part in independence observances.
Organisers held the independence events virtually.
“The way we celebrated Independence 42 marks a new dawn for the Annual celebration,” Chastanet observed.
PM said it reinforced the importance of creative collaboration ‘as we move away from traditional modes of entertainment and expression.’
He recalled that the Independence 42 Virtual Showcase focused on Saint Lucia’s history.
According to Chastanet, it also highlighted communities, featured panel discussions on development and also had business and cultural displays.
He expressed the view that perhaps the most memorable highlight was local music.
In a post on his official Facebook page, the PM noted that the Independence Committee had a full production team of over 1000 persons.
They included committee members, sub committees, producers, videographers, media houses, artistes, community activists and creative directors.
“I am so happy that so many persons got the opportunity to contribute and work for this year’s celebrations,” the PM said.
“I am more so moved by the outstanding talent showcased, especially Playlist 42 and the Gospel Concert,” he explained.
“The spirits of Saint Lucians were lifted, here and abroad,” Chastanet stated.
He expressed the view that the programme went out to the nation in quality and style.
