PM Praises Saint Lucia’s Tourism Minister For ‘Fantastic Job’

Saint Lucia’s Prime Minister Allen Chastanet has praised the ‘fantastic job’ being done by Tourism Minister, Dominic Fedee, in overseeing record tourism arrivals.

Writing on his official Facebook page this week, Chastanet said that apart from doing a fantastic job as Minister of Tourism and overseeing record tourism arrivals, Fedee has been working hard to deliver on his promises to his constituents of Anse la Raye-Canaries

Fedee was elected MP for the constituency at his first political outing in the general election held on June 6, 2016

Chastanet observed that few of the projects which the MP has been able to deliver on thus far included the rehabilitation of the Durandeau and Tet Chemin Community Centres and the Rehabilitation of the Roseau-Vanard main road.

He also mentioned wireless internet in Canaries, upgrading of the Canaries Playing Field and upgrading of the Canaries Water Intake system and Site protection, among other projects.

Dominic Fedee is currently Minister with responsibility for Tourism, Information and Broadcasting.

Last year he was appointed to Chair of the Caribbean Tourism Organization.

Saint Lucia recorded its best ever performance in visitor arrivals when more than 1.2 million people visited the Caribbean island last year, according to figures  that were released here.

It was reported that the 1,218,294 visitors who came here last year represented a 10.2 per cent increase over the 2017 figures, which had been a record-setting year for the island.

  1. Numbers mean nothing. What strategies are employed to entice the visitors to leave the ship and visit the island. Ask the taxi operators, vendors etc.
Everything is available on board basically. So even if a million ppl come and only a few thousand come ashore, what is the economic spin off? Stop quoting numbers!!! IF U want to do that also say how much visitors spend in the economy. Even if u did know u would not say cuz it’s nothing to talk about. Coming here means nothing it is what u are encouraged and enticed to do here

  2. Most of the Caribbean islands are still recovering from the storm that’s while so many cruise ships coming to St. Lucia…..fool the fools

  3. Shame so many that worked for you during the campaign, you failed all of them, you made false promises. You aint getting much love form all of them, you wont fool them again.
