PM Says 2020 Prospects For Saint Lucia ‘Extremely Promising’

Prime Minister Allen Chastanet says the prospects for the Eastern Caribbean Currency Union (ECCU) and particularly Saint Lucia are ‘extremely promising’ for 2020.

Chastanet, who is also Minister of Finance, made the comments on his official Facebook page.

He wrote as Saint Lucia’s cabinet of ministers Thursday hosted the Governor of the Eastern Caribbean Central Bank (ECCB) Mr. Timothy Antoine and his team, as part of the annual Country Outreach.

The ECCB Outreach Programme provides an opportunity for the Governor to share some of the plans and initiatives being implemented by the Central Bank, as well to receive feedback and to provide clarity to leaders and citizens on issues of concern, Prime Minister Allen Chastanet noted.

“I thank Governor Antoine and his team at the ECCB for their advice, support and the incredible work which they have been doing to help us overcome the many challenges that small island economies such as ours face as well as the thrust to modernize the banking system within the Eastern Caribbean,” the PM stated.

  1. The scheme to show appearance of progress just before general elections will backfire this time around. They may have just miscalculated their timing. The people are just too desperate for relief to wait any longer . How much can they accomplish in a year or less, other than to get things started, only to be discontinued just after elections. The pattern is clear for everyone to see.
