Prime Minister Allen Chastanet has announced that over the coming weeks and months, the majority of communities in Saint Lucia will benefit from safer and improved travelling routes.
“Our goal is to enhance Saint Lucia’s infrastructure to improve motorist and pedestrian safety whilst supporting economic activity in retail, trade, agriculture and tourism,” the former Tourism Minister wrote on his official Facebook page.
According to Chastanet, the aim is the complete rehabilitation of 99km of road across Saint Lucia.
“We are continuing with our Islandwide Road Rehabilitation project in the community of Forestierre,” he disclosed.
Contractor Engineer Miguel Horne said his firm was contracted to resurface the entire road system in addition to doing drainage works.
“Currently we are way above our contractual work schedule,” he said in a video that was posted on the PM’s Facebook page regarding the Forestiere road rehabilitation project.
He disclosed that some 20 percent of the resurfacing work has been completed plus some 80 percent of the re-milling.
