Prime Minister Allen Chastanet says very often people underestimate the value of good roads and the contribution road improvements make to economic and social development.
“Road improvement projects are also vital at this point as these projects create numerous business and job opportunities for citizens,” Chastanet said on his official Facebook page.
He quoted the World Bank as saying that “Roads are the arteries through which the economy pulses. By linking producers to markets, workers to jobs, students to school, and the sick to hospitals, roads are vital to any development agenda.”
According to Chastanet, one road project here which is currently nearing completion is the Spring Road Reconstruction Project.
He disclosed that the project is one month ahead of schedule, within budget and has employed approximately 100 persons from the area.
Chastanet said the Contractor is in the final phase of laying concrete and the installation of new residence access platforms.
“The loving residents of Spring Road certainly deserve this long awaited project and I express my gratitude and thanks to them for their cooperation and patience during the delivery of this road. Hats off to Mr Collin Lynch, his team and Tripple L Constriction for an excellent job,” he observed.
According to the PM, residents will be able to enjoy full access to the roads effective Monday July 27, 2020.
