PM Speaks On Recent Cabinet Shuffle

Prime Minister, Allen Chastanet, has been explaining the rationale behind a recent cabinet shuffle.

Among the changes that were made as a result of the shuffle was a reassignment of Senator Fortuna Belrose.

Belrose, formerly Minister within the Ministry for Equity, Social Justice, Empowerment, Youth Development, Sports, Culture and Local Government, was made Minister in the Ministry of Tourism, Information, Broadcasting, Culture and Creative Industries with responsibility for Culture and the Creative Industries.

Dominic Fedee who served as a Minister in the Office of Prime Minister, has now become the Minister of Tourism, Information, Broadcasting, with the additional portfolios of Culture and Creative Industries.

Prime Minister Chastanet explained that the person who was always responsible for local government Lenard Montoute.

“He was the senior minister in that consortium,” the PM stated.

Montoute now has the portfolio of Local Government, in addition to having responsibility for Equity, Social Justice, and Empowerment.

Chastanet recalled that when he served as Tourism Minister in a previous United Workers Party administration he had always wanted culture and events to be with tourism.

“We did it the other way for a while in terms of the events and culture and we feel that we are about to now advance our programmes when it comes to social development,” he told reporters.

The PM said reassigning Senator Ubaldus Raymond from finance to responsibility for the public service was in line with that goal.

“A priority is on government modernisation and  also an e-government and I felt it needed a minister to be able to  shadow that and make sure it is taking place. So he has gotten off to a roaring start with regard to that and this is critical to the government being able to implement. So the changes we have made are critical to the implementation of government programming.”

  1. What crazyness is this! There is a minister of tourism and then you appoint another minister in the ministry of tourism? What the fouchet is this?

  2. Ubaldo really started with a bang, banging the two young girls,He is a shamefull embarrasment to the goverment.About the rest they have never acomplished a thing. When is the next reshuffle?

  3. The shuffling and reshuffling of Ministers will not amount to anything much. The Ministers of the present Cabinet are all docile, indolent and submissive. Instead of charting new and innovative ways to make government work for all the people, they are just sheep-like followers of Chastanet’s misguided policies. Healthcare is an abominable national scandal, unemployment, especially among the youth population, is appalling, and national security is rapidly deteriorating. This present administration has done little to inspire confidence in their ability to turn the country’s trajectory in an upward and positive direction. Meantime, the people continue to experience unimaginable hardships with no relief in sight. The new driver cannot drive. Change the change. I take no pleasure in advocating for such. The present awful circumstances dictate that the country must change course. If the present opposition is given another change to govern and they too mess up, change again. Send a clear and unambiguous message to all the political parties and the politicians that no automatic two consecutive terms for you unless you perform satisfactorily.

  4. The Guyanese born Dominic Fedee is a puppet, and the Martiniquan born Allen Demolition Chastanet is just there for his friends and foreigners.

  5. Chastanet has failed left right and centre. He and Flood spend millions travelling first class and nothing for dat.
But if he start to get projects running he in for a second term because the SLP offering nothing but the ‘same ole same ole’.
Besides ‘we hate Chastanet’ what does PJP have to say?
What are his economic policies except running to Venezuela?
    Tourism? Mate lost.
Health? Why he never finish St Judes?
Get used to Chastanets white face. He there till 2026.
