Prime Minister Allen Chastanet has praised St Lucia Zouks, despite the team’s loss in its first Caribbean Premier League (CPL) final on Thursday afternoon.
“We may not have captured the championship but the St Lucia Zouks are winners in our books!” Chastanet wrote on his official Facebook page on Friday.
Zouks lost to the Trinbago Knight Riders by 8 wickets.
“If at the beginning of the CPLT20 season I had stated publicly that the Zouks would have made it to the finals of the 2020 CPLT20 tournament, most people would have said that I was crazy because this had never been achieved before,” Prime Minister Chastanet stated.
“The fact is that though we weren’t victorious, @darensammy, @kimani_melius and the entire @stluciazouks team showed us that we can achieve what most would perceive as impossible when we work together, remain positive and work hard,” Chastanet observed.
St Lucia Zouks Captain, Daren Sammy has also praised his team.
During a post match interview he indicated that from the inception of the tournament, no one thought the team would have been in the finals.
Sammy lauded his team mates for playing well, acknowledged that St Lucia Zouks had been beaten by a very experienced side and congratulated Trinbago Knight Riders on their victory.
