With the official start of the 2021 Atlantic Hurricane season on Tuesday, Prime Minister Allen Chastanet has called on Saint Lucia to remain alert and prepared.
“Today, June 1st marks the official start of the 2021 Hurricane Season. The experts are predicting above normal activity during the season, for the 6th consecutive year,” Chastanet observed on his official Facebook page.
“As a nation, we must remain alert and be prepared,” he advised.
As a result, the PM outlined a few things which people can do.
He mentioned reviewing an emergency plan or preparing one in the event that individuals do not have one.
Chastanet also listed:
-Secure all important documents
-Verify that your insurance is active and incase you don’t have, if you can afford it look into getting some form of coverage
-Mitigate against any risks around your homes such as blocked drains and overhanging trees
-Find out where your closest Hurricane shelter is
-Stay Informed
“We pray that the Almighty Father will protect us and keep us safe this Hurricane season,” the PM concluded.
