Saint Lucia police have warned individuals not to breach home quarantine rules, while urging the public to report violations.
The police gave the warning in a statement Monday.
They said officers detained a Beausejour, Gros Islet woman on Saturday.
According to the police statement, people saw her in public areas on several occasions.
Officials accompanied the woman to a government quarantine facility for monitoring.
The police have warned that the authorities will revoke the home quarantine approval of violators.
The Royal Saint Lucia Police Force (RSLPF) indicated that the authorities will do so after a Ministry of Health review.
The police said the authorities will put the violator in a government quarantine facility at his or her own expense.
The police statement explained that the force has undertaken to assist the Ministry of Health in detaining violators.
As a result, officials will escort those who breach the rules to government quarantine facilities.
“Anyone with information regarding possible breaches of the conditions of home quarantine is asked to call the nearest police station immediately,” the statement said.
It asserted that at no time, should anyone in home quarantine be frequenting public locations.
The statement also noted that such individuals should not be in contact with members of the public, or leave the confines of their premises.
