Police say they have launched an investigation into the discovery of the body of a 37 year old man at Belair in the quarter of Marigot on Wednesday.
Acting Assistant Commissioner of Police with Responsibility for Crime Management, George Nicholas, identified the deceased as Yan Charlemagne.
Nicholas said police discovered the body at the man’s home after responding to a report of a shooting.
According to the Acting Assistant Commissioner of Police, the deceased appeared to have sustained gunshot wounds.
He told reporters at a media briefing that the police are awaiting the result of a post mortem examination to determine the cause of death.
Police said Thursday that so far for the year, Saint Lucia has recorded 34 homicides.
