Saint Lucia police have laid charges in connection with two recent homicides.
Superintendent George Nicholas told reporters Friday that on October 30, charges were laid against Ashton Palton of Augier, Vieux Fort, for causing the death Vigjah Robert on October 25, 2020.
Nicholas disclosed that Palton is currently on remand at Bordelais Correctional Facility (BCF).
He also said that on November 3, police formally arrested and charged Bobby Joseph of Babonneau for causing the death of Meshach Dyson Emilien.
Joseph is on remand at BCF.
Emilien’s body was discovered on a ganja plantation at Garrand, Babonneau, in September this year.
So far for the year, Saint Lucia has recorded 42 homicides.
The latest occurred Thursday night at Bexon.
According to Superintendent Nicholas, about 9.40 pm police responded to an incident in Marc, Bexon, where upon arrival they discovered 37 year old Kurt Sylvester of Rose Hill, Castries, with multiple gunshot wounds to his head and chest.
Nicholas said Sylvester was transported to the Owen King European Union Hospital (OKEUH) where a medical practitioner pronounced him dead.
“At this time police have no leads or any suspect in this matter but investigations are continuing,” he explained.
