Police are investigating a Vieux Fort homicide and a missile attack on officers in Soufriere.
Both incidents occurred Sunday night.
Officers say Prince Raymond succumbed to multiple gunshot wounds about 8.00 pm at Bruceville, Vieux Fort.
The circumstances surrounding his death were not immediately clear.
Videos on social media showed Raymond on the ground surrounded by people.
A woman fixes his green long-sleeve top to cover his exposed, bloody chest.
In the background, other women wail loudly above the animated voices of others who had gathered at the scene.
Officers have not yet arrested any suspects in the Island’s latest homicide.
However, they say they plan to arrest people who threw bottles and stones at police in Soufriere.
According to the police, that incident occurred after officers went to a bar at Baron’s Drive.
They were investigating a report that the business place and its patrons were violating COVID-19 regulations.
But a law enforcement official told St Lucia Times that other individuals were having a ‘carnival like’ activity in the same vicinity.
The official said that as a result, some individuals began throwing missiles at the police.
According to the official, the missiles damaged a police vehicle.
The officers on the scene summoned the SSU, but according to reports, by the time the backup arrived police had the situation under control.
The police say they are in the process of identifying the perpetrators whom they will charge.
They also say they will charge the owner of the bar.
