Police Recover Assault Rifle, Ammunition During Bois D’Orange Operation

Saint Lucia police say they recovered an AK 47 assault rifle and seven rounds of ammunition during search of a residence at Bois D’Orange on Friday.

Acting Police Commissioner with responsibility for Crime Management, George Nicholas, made the disclosure during a news conference on Monday morning.

He said no one has been arrested in connection with the discovery of the firearm and ammunition, but police investigations are continuing.

Nicholas also disclosed that on Saturday about 1.00 am the police were conducting an operation along the Union road when they had reason to stop a motor omnibus.

He told reporters that when police searched the vehicle  they found a 9 mm pistol with four rounds of ammunition.

Nicholas said one man was taken into custody.
