Police Say They Chased After Hit and Run Driver

Police say they chased after a minibus driver following a fatal hit and run incident on Thursday evening.

The accident occurred on the Vieux-Fort Laborie Highway.

Law enforcement officials told St Lucia Times that as a result, pedestrian  – Shane Laurencin, 43, alias ‘Burglar’, suffered severe head and other injuries.

The officials disclosed that doctors at St Jude Hospital later pronounced Laurencin dead.

They said Laurencin had a history of mental illness.

According to reports, a team of police officers was in the vicinity when the hit and run accident occurred.

As a result, they gave chase and stopped the driver of the minibus that collided with Laurencin.

Police say they expect to charge the driver, who is in his sixties, shortly.

Relatives of the hit and run victim have called in the local media for justice.
