Police are investigating the circumstances surrounding a fatal accident which occurred on Sunday, April 2, 2017, about 5:23 p.m. at Belvedere, Canaries.

Reports indicate that thirty four (34) year old Emerson Chassang of Caye Mange, Gros Islet, lost control of his scooter, registration number 1235, whilst heading towards Castries and was severely injured.

He was conveyed to the Soufriere Hospital, where he was pronounced dead on arrival, about 6:05 p.m. by a medical practitioner.

Emerson Chassang was the sole rider on the scooter at the time of the incident. No other motor vehicle is believed to have been involved in the accident at this time.

A post mortem examination is scheduled for tomorrow, Tuesday, April 4, 2017. Investigations are continuing into this matter.

This is the 4th road fatality for 2017.
