Relatives of the Babonneau man who was found bound in a burning building at Chassin, Babonneau, say a post mortem examination has been scheduled for Tuesday.
Police say Winston Dosithee, 51, passed away on Saturday at the Owen King European Union Hospital (OKEUH).
He suffered second and third degree burns, family members disclosed.
They also said it appeared that Dosithee, also known as ‘Alvin’ and ‘Mell’, had been assaulted.
Two men from Chassin, Babonneau where the fire occurred in the wee hours of Christmas Eve Day, heard the screams of the deceased coming from the burning structure – a store room that had been converted into living quarters, a family member told St Lucia Times.
According to the family member, the men rushed to his aid, pulling him from the small structure that was on fire.
Dosithee was conveyed to hospital where he died on Boxing Day.
Police are understood to be following several leads in connection with the incident.
