PRESS RELEASE:- Dr. William Warren Smith the President of Caribbean Development Bank (CDB); the regional development finance institution based in Barbados will lead a CDB delegation to Saint Lucia for a meeting to be held on Wednesday, July 13th, 2016 at the conference center of the Ministry of Finance, Bridge Street, Castries.

Dr. Smith will meet with senior government officials, including Prime Minister Hon. Allen M. Chastanet, cabinet ministers and members of the public sector.

The premise of the President’s visit is for the reinforcement of the CDB’s commitment to Saint Lucia in offering assistance in creative ways which will assist the country to achieve its developmental goals.

The meeting will present an opportunity to evaluate CDB programmes with the Government of Saint Lucia.

The meeting will focus largely on the presentation of the Government’s main objectives and priorities; and how best the CDB can support such priorities through its social and economic development programmes.

Saint Lucia is one of the original members of the CDB having joined in 1970. 

CDB funding in Saint Lucia has been used for social and economic infrastructure such as schools and health centres, building more disaster-resistant structures, community skills training and support for small and medium-sized enterprises.

The Caribbean Development Bank (CDB) is a regional financial institution which was created for the purpose of contributing to the harmonious economic growth and development of the member countries in the Caribbean.

The institution promotes economic cooperation and integration among its members, having special and urgent regard to the needs of the less developed members of the region.

The Prime Minister and the Government of Saint Lucia looks forward to welcoming the President of the CDB and his delegation to the island; with great anticipations of fruitful discussions on the future development of Saint Lucia.
