Prudent: ‘We Need To Find A Way Out Of This Mess’

Against the backdrop of a recent upsurge in violent crime, leader of the Lucian Peoples Movement (LPM), Therold Prudent, has asserted that the country has to find a way out of ‘this mess’ in 2019.

“When murder, rape and other deviant criminal behaviours are no longer alarming or repulsive to the St Lucian conscience, it is very safe to say that Nou Tombre Bien Ba,” Prudent wrote.

While observing that the country needs to find a way out of the situation next year, the LPM leader expressed the view that otherwise ” we all, through our continued silence, can count ourselves as accepting of the ongoing comploo, both officially or unofficially, which allows criminals to overrun our country forever.”

Police statistics indicate that so far for 2018, there have been 42 homicides.

A recent upsurge in gun related violence in the city prompted Police Commissioner, Severin Moncherry, to recall officers from vacation leave to put more boots on the ground.

In the past few weeks there has been a noticeable presence of armed police in the capital, especially along Chaussee Road where some of the gun violence has taken place.

  1. This is the result of the choice we make, when choosing people to represent us, yes, people with no vision, no plan but to suit themselves, their family and Friends not forgetting their allies. They pay no respect to our hard working law enforcers who put their lives on line all the time, and in return the want to bring them to justice again and again, just to protect their visas, what a shame for an indépendant state. Is that what you call indépendant? Lucians wake up and take your country back where it was! show these leaders, we are their boss! nonsense! we don’t need criminals and their roots in this country, let’s teach them a lesson, starting from the top! yes, the time is right; don’t let our leaders sink the boat, for their can’t handle this crime situation. I do know the police force can do the job, (poor guys.) I wish that i could help them. Guys, all the best for the new year !pliss force!

  2. Shut your trap zabo!!! You either stop the ******g blame game and offer a solution or just shut your trap. Its about time that you political operatives stop this crap of commenting under different names just to spread discord among people. It isn’t helping anyone or anything except yourself.

  3. You guys was to focus on a little joint your grown kids and adult smoke. Instead you throw h them out on the streets or on the blocks so they tend to pick up bad habits and dirty tricks that parents and guardian are not aware of, until it is to late, grave or jail. Keep your family safe smoking a joint is petty compared to what they learn when u reject them for smoking weed. Throw the guns In the sea, in the pete toilet, a place where it will never be found. Keep knives and machete safe away from kids and mad heads. Do not let petty thing destroy family, friends, brothers and sistersThere are places in the world where cops get killed or get shoot at on a regular which is not a good thing. But if Lucians do not put things in check we gone be like some places in South America or Central America and our money and life will not have value. It is not in St Lucian nature to be ignorant to life. We a peaceful island and depend on one another.

  4. We need to pay our police officers and pay them well, their jobs are very dangerous ones and if u want them to perform give them what they are worth,We are very happy to see them out there now protecting us we sleep better knowing that they are out there, They have to be away from their family so please pay them well so they will want to do their jobs well.People who are not happy in a job don’t perform very well,so please, please pay them well we need them.
