Public spirited citizens extinguished a structural fire at Marina Village in Marigot Bay on Monday, before firefighters arrived.

Saint Lucia Fire Service (SLFS) Communications Officer Annia Mitchel disclosed that emergency personnel from the fire service headquarters in Castries responded after receiving a distress call at 7:02 pm.

“On arrival at the scene, emergency personnel found fire damage to two
units of the ground floor of the affected structure. Members of the public
successfully extinguished the fire prior to the arrival of the fire suppression team and Marigot Police,” Mitchel said.

In addition, the SLFS spokeswoman said there were no reports of injuries.

  1. Commendations going out to the individuals who helped put that fire out. We need more of this looking out for each other nature to be spread across the land. Be your brother’s keeper. BRAVO once again!!!

  2. bravo to the spirited citizens cause if was not for them maybe more damage would have been done cause for the longest while there was this big thick smoke very high in the air and the fire brigade took about fifteen to twenty mins before they made they actual way to help put out the fire so that fire was raging for more than five mins
