Raymond focused on his government role

Minister in the Ministry of Finance, Doctor Ubaldus Raymond, attempting to evade questions about the social media scandal involving the leakage of his alleged nude photos, has told reporters that he has a role to play in the government.

“I am focussed on that at this point in time,” Raymond said in response a question about whether he should stay in the background.

In regard to whether he should resign, the minister recalled that Prime Minister, Allen Chastanet, has already made a statement on the matter, indicating that there is a court case and depending on the outcome, a decision will be made on the way forward.

An eighteen year old female student of Sir Arthur Lewis Community College was charged with blackmail in connection with the nude photos scandal and was granted bail in the sum of $10,000.

Protesters gathered outside parliament today as the senate prepared to meet to demand that Raymond resign over the scandal, asserting that as leader of government business in the house he was a bad example.

“He is a bad example as a Christian and as a married man,” a female protester, Cornelia Jacob, told reporters, adding that Raymond needs to do the honourable thing and get out of government.

“He needs to resign, that needs no court case – it needs nothing,” Jacob said.

Yannette James, another protester, said she was there because no one is speaking up on behalf of women.

According to her, Doctor Ubaldus Raymond, who is supposed to be honourable, has shown that he has no respect for young women.
