The Royal Saint Lucia Police Force (RSLPF) has launched an investigation into a viral video of a policewoman drawing her firearm after she and other officers had held a man.
The other officers were wearing tee-shirts with the word ‘Warden’ on the back.
It was not immediately clear what led up to the incident or what prompted the officer to draw her firearm.
But in the 58 second video, she chambers a round in her pistol. She then steps back with the lowered gun in hand.
Other officers who held the man escort him to a vehicle after which the cop with the gun holsters the weapon.
The man they held was not wearing a COVID-19 mask.
The incident is believed to have occurred in Castries this week.
Police Commissioner, Milton Desir, told St Lucia Times on Saturday that an investigation is underway.
Desir said the probe is to determine the circumstances under which the officer drew the weapon and the reason for doing so.
