Press Release:-  On Monday, 23rd August 2021, Russell’s Rooftop at Morne Doudon will unveil its online broadcast platform: RoofTropixx Media.

From our studios, live and recorded audio and video programs and events will be broadcast to our target audience – our St Lucian diaspora and people on-island, with a view to also capture listeners and viewers worldwide.

Connecting to the RoofTropixx Media platform is via the internet (for radio www.rooftropixx.com/r and for tv www.rooftropixx.com/tv). Our content will be broadcast via KBit Network, an international online media management company based in the UK, dedicated to the development of the online audio and video entertainment sectors.

Facebook, YouTube, Instagram and other social media platforms will also be utilized, as well as traditional television and radio stations who have expressed interest in collaborating with us.

RoofTropixx Media has established linkages with local and overseas diaspora groups, associations, institutions, business houses and others, with a view to regularly showcase the goings-on in their overseas communities as well as what takes place in St Lucia. The intention is to also work with the Ministry of External Affairs, the office of Diaspora Affairs and St Lucia’s Diplomatic Corps to strengthen linkages between our people at home and abroad.

The broadcast team comprises an exciting blend of seasoned veterans and debutants, all working towards delivering this first-of-its-kind product.

Our audio and video programming will comprise Kweyol, educational, transportation, religious shows; dee jays, news, sports, obituaries, a fan club, live Jazz, a tourism show and lots of live entertainment from St Lucia and other parts of the world.

Footage will also be edited and rebroadcast as video reruns and podcasts.

The see-through design of the RoofTropixx Media studios integrates seamlessly with the open, rustic theme of Russell’s Rooftop – a blend which will work perfectly for audience participatory events.

Additionally, the proximity of the main bar, kitchen and lounge allows for patrons to be served while taking in the live broadcasts and following COVID protocols. Our cameras will constantly pick up the high visibility areas of the facility, decorated with ‘made in St Lucia’ products and other paraphernalia and shown to the world.

The indoor/outdoor design of the facility with the breathtaking vistas of the city of Castries, the north coast of the island and the sight of Martinique on a clear day complete the appeal of RoofTropixx Media on Russell’s Rooftop as a must-visit when sightseeing in St Lucia.

The first iteration of RoofTropixx Media live programming will be for a four week period, scheduled from 6am to 12 noon (Mon – Fri) and 6pm to 11pm (Saturdays). The programming for the first month is as follows:

Monday to Friday

6am – 8am… ‘Kweyol La Force’ with cultural activist Mr Hilary La Force

8am – 10am… ‘The Missing Link’ with radio/tv presenter Russell Lake

10am – 11am… ‘Tip n Run’ with Hilary La Force and Russell Lake

11am – 12noon… Musical interlude

Saturdays 6pm – 10pm will feature deejays and the fielding of telephone calls from people at home and abroad.

The second iteration of live programming on RoofTropixx Media will add the 12noon to 6pm slot (for four weeks) which will feature deejays from the diaspora playing from outside of St Lucia. The third and final iteration will add the 6pm to 12 midnight slot comprising various talk shows, live performances and audience-participatory events (live from the Rooftop and/or off-venue). Thus after a period of eight weeks, RoofTropixx Media will be broadcasting audio and video content from 6am to 12 midnight daily.

On the first day of live programming, Monday 23rd August, the ambassador of Diaspora Affairs Mrs Jocelyn Fletcher will be interviewed regarding the work her office has done during her tenure.

Also, RoofTropixx Media will facilitate the donation of forty five (45) tablets to the principals of five (5) schools within the Castries and Gros Islet basins. Ministry of Education officials will be in attendance, with the local media invited to cover the presentation. This will herald the start of many other such presentations.
