Press Release:– Sagicor General’s teams in Antigua and St Lucia recently showed up in solidarity with their colleagues in Barbados to support the Caribbean Youth Environment Network’s Beach Clean-Up weekend.
In Antigua the team of volunteers visited Pensioners Beach, while in St Lucia Vigie Beach was the location of choice early on the morning of the third Saturday in October.
The teams cleaned up the beach from debris left by patrons as well as other garbage that is brought into shore by the waves and tides.
Deborah Raoul, Assistant Manager for Sagicor General in St Lucia said about the project, “I believe, as we all do, that we all play a role in keeping our country clean. Right now in particular, the beaches are one of the few options that families can enjoy as we are dealing with the impact of the pandemic. It’s an open space to where one can come and enjoy the environment with family and friends.”
In Antigua, at Pensioners Beach, Keith Herbert, Manager, Insurance Operations for the Eastern Caribbean expressed similar sentiments.
He said, “Sagicor’s values are founded on a vision of commitment to improving the lives of the people in the communities in which we operate, and this is something we are encouraged to practice every day. So activities like this are part of what we do at Sagicor. As a Group we have been involved in similar campaigns, and we recently launched a project for our team members called “Project Kindness” which seeks to increase employee volunteerism and demonstrate our commitment to the development of the countries in which we do business.”
