Saint Lucia is experiencing a delay in releasing COVID-19 PCR test results, amid a sharp spike in COVID-19 cases.
The Ministry of Health and Wellness made the announcement Saturday.
In a press release, the Ministry pointed to a delay in providing results ‘within the usual turn-around time.’
But the release explained that this is due to the large volume of tests the ministry is currently conducting.
However, it disclosed that officials are putting measures in place to address the issue.
In the interim, the Ministry called on individuals awaiting COVID-19 test results to be patient and remain in quarantine until they get their results.
The ministry has apologised for the inconvenience.
On Saturday, Saint Lucia announced 40 new cases of COVID-19.
All of the forty cases are Saint Lucian nationals who range in age from 12 years to 85 years.
The new patients brought the total number of cases diagnosed in country to 810.
Saint Lucia has also recorded its 11th ‘COVID-19 related’ death.
